Hi, I am looking to buy a digital camera to take good quality photos when I am on my hols etc.
I am looking for a good camera costing up £100, but could pay slightly more
Does anyone have any recommendations?
thanks

I've used two Panasonic compacts quite extensively, and I would recommend them highly. They are fitted with Leica lenses, a core element of the camera.
The first one is out of production now, but the second one I got was the FS35, at just under £100 from Tesco in-store. The only thing that's missing from the standard package is a carrying case, but I got a lightweight, flexible Case Logic one that's ideal for it; about a tenner from Comet.
Oh, and you need to buy the SD card separately, too!0 -
Sorry, no specific recommendations, but rather some advice. There has been a 'megapixel race' to the detriment of good quality. Decent optics and sensors are far preferable to a high megapixel count.I am looking to buy a digital camera to take good quality photos when I am on my hols etc.

The following article is technical, and explains the issue:

Personally, I choose a 5 megapixel Canon PowerShot A95 with a larger than average sensor. As it was a discontinued model, the price was under £100. Probably can't been found now.
There are reviews of current model cameras, that should be around £100 in the UK, here:
