CRB check for a job failed what can i do?

i once got a CRB check back from a girl who wanted to do childcare, it showed a child related offence so I automatically put her in the no pile. But as she was quite young I had my doubts and when I checked the date she would have committed the offence when she was 8. I checked it out and found that she was the victim and the offense was committed by some-one of the same name at the same address. It only took a very quick phone call for this to be checked and a new clean CRB sent. So it can be done very quickly.
 - on a number of levels!
Whatever happened to protection of the victim, particularly in child abuse cases?!
Presumably you had provided name and date of birth, but the date of birth bit was overooked? Terrifying that it could happen so easily with such a potentially awful outcome. Thank heavens you had the sense to question it, and presumably handled the situation sensitively with her. Did you or she complain about the breach of data protection?0 -
What was the question about tattoos about. Has your sister a tattoo and you don't. I don't know anything about these checks but I would try and phone the person back who you spoke to you and try and explain. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0

I have a tattoo, but my sister who has got tattoos has got names on hers.
I did ring back but the woman wasn't interested and just said its too similar. Believe me, me and my sister are complete polar opposites!0 -

The Police National Computer records tattoos as part of the identification of the offender to whose record it is referring - it helps to detect when people use aliases.
I suspect that if the CRB result came back linked to the sister, her tattoos would be shown on the record (or possibly the result too?), and thus it is relatively easy to prove there's been a mix-up if the OP doesn't have such tattoos as described on the record.0
