Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 15th November 2012. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all,
Seems very cold here this morning, to be expected I suppose for November, off to work for me today, college for dd, OH to work and the dog to my mums
Dinner tonight is something and chips with beans, not sure what yet, will go and rummage in freezer.
Will do a wash tonight and get it in the airer, and I have Tesco delivering.
Dinner last night was the chicken chow mein thing, which turned out very tasty, so will do that again.
JackieO how is your dd doing ?
Have good days all xx

Great minds thinks alike RR I will cancel mine.
Morning All
RR & I both posted the sticky at the same time, so I have cleared mine. I always double check once posted the sticky bit as this has happened before. I am not really up that early as I am ahead of you here.
It is really quiet around us, normally we faintly hear cars on the nearby road, but nothing, and I have read for over an hour this morning. There are some people who have actually made a good business out here selling up and returning to the UK, they are worried about the job situation for their children, and education. The Spanish are really feeling the cuts. The weather here at the moment is very weird, usually you look at the forecast and it doesn't change that much until 2 or 3 days out, but atm it is changing during the day, I got two loads of washing done yesterday, yesterday forecast drizzle for today, but looking through the slats of the blinds (they make too much noise to open until everyone is up) it is looking bright, and 20C is forecast, so may even catch a few rays.
Waiting in for a new bottle rack for the fridge, I went into a shop here, and they found me one (told me no longer available in the UK) but instead of having to go back to the shop to fetch it, a courier is to bring it, and I will pay him when he gets there. Just their way.
Had a brunch for tea last night, as we needed to use some bits up. Either turkey steaks or a chicken for tonight.
Hope you enjoyed the piccies on FB yesterday, I have been meaning to put some of them on since I got here, I need to get some off my BBerry and post those too.
(((hugs))) positive vibes spoons hi-5's to all those who'd like to grab them, weather, unhappy, sick, or just fed up, hope you feel better soon. Take care all. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club

Another busy day at work, then DD1's parents evening.
Cauliflower cheese for tea.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -

Morning :hello:
It's very foggy here. The house feels all snuggly, I'm going to nip to the shop then come home and light candles
I tried crocheting yesterday, managed three short rows of one stitch, then three of another. Was quite proud of myself, til I put it flat (well it curled a bit!) on the table and examined it. I really need to work on my tension
Coat hooks are now hung on the wall and I sewed a button back onto my coat - I kept putting off doing it because I just couldn't be bothered. It took about 90 seconds
Timmy pig came out of his hutch for a run around yesterday, only for a few minutes but it's a start. He was warbling again too, that's a good sign.
Not much happening here today, just need to hang the wet towels and put some dried washing away.Bulletproof0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Misty, damp and dreich here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, sweet treats from the tins or fridge for those that wanted them. Not sure what dinner will consist of tonight as have a horrendously busy day, but shortly I will be visiting the local town to go to the bank, then food shopping, then home to crack on with washing, drying and ironing, need to pack for the boys and ourselves, as we're in one place and they are in another. Will be just concentrating on getting ready for the weekend, and making sure uniforms etc are sorted for Monday as I'm off next week so not as much to do as there would be if I was working IYKWIM.
Managed to get stuck in and got the pavlovas made last night, they are part of a meal we're cooking for 25 people'ish tomorrow night, am somewhat scared, but managed to see that I could have got left to provide something out of my depth, so volunteered to do the pavs, with whipped cream and fresh fruit and then supply a fresh fruit salad - at the point of planning we knew the site had a village hall but we didn't know what the kitchen/cooking facilities were going to be, so thought I'd volunteer something I knew could be made ahead so that then I was on hand to help with the first 2 courses, which are going to be a choice of pate and toast or prawn cocktail, the main will be chicken in red wine sauce, new pots, carrots, broccolli and peas and then my pavs etc for dessert, hoping it all turns out ok!
Must crack on, may get back on later if time and "to do" list permits!
Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x

Good morning all,
Hope your all ok. Hugs for those not feeling great or stressed.
Just seen dh and dd son off to college and work. Plan to spend the day making a list of what's in the cupboards and freezer. Only 3 wks until we go away and want to use as much as we can up without buying anything else, apart from essential fresh bits.
Also plan some cooking. Going to make spicy parsnip soup, chicken and chorizo stew and a fruit cake.
Great weigh in last night, another 3 lb off so 25.5 in total, just 2 off my 2 stone:j:j
I am reading a great diary at the moment and they recommend a book called Your money or your life by Dominguez and Robin. It's all about simplifying and declutter ing, becoming debt free. Changing your whole attitude to what you need and don't need. We really want to focus on this in the New Year so going to try and get a cheap copy.
Meant to say got a beautiful Fenn Wright Mason dress from the charity shop yesterday for 4.99 well over a 100 in John Lewis what a bargain
Have a couple of items finishing on eBay this morning so fingers crossed they do ok.
Need to fit in a run at some point and will put another wash on the maiden. Have a good day all xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Woke up early and had a browse on laptop.
DH will have breakfast cooked (if he keeps eating boiled eggs he will turn into one) and I need to wait in for parcel to arrive.
I am hoping to reorganise top kitchen cupboard so I can find things quickly and to store things like flour in labelled large glass or plastic jars. I am fed up with small packets of yeast, pastry mix etc falling about and getting lost at the back.
Spent yesterday traipsing around York looking for shoes for me and older dd and found Hotter shoes have a three for price of two deal on this week (finishes soon) so took advantage of it.
DD has just flown off on week's holiday to Grand Canaria - at least I hope she has as some flights were being disrupted by strikes. The house seems very quiet without the two youngest
After a lot of dithering I have decided to invest in a pie maker which will cut down on use of oven and will make four pies in about ten minutes. Turns out that buying the La***and one at ama**n gives me free postage so saves me £2.99 :j Hoping that being able to make a quick small pie, quiche etc with home made soup will save on fuel and hassle and use up odds and ends in a way that looks as if I have slaved over a meal rather than econo, economethingy
Promised DH baked potato for lunch and want to use YS pork mince so might make burgers tonight with HM sweet potato and red pepper soup.
Hugs to all who could use one."This site is addictive!"

Morning all.
Its a cold and foggy day here in the midlands. I had a dreadful night because youngest child has a really upset tummy and was up and down to the loo throughout the night. I am feeling exhausted but have to go into college to do a presentation in front of my tutor. Goodness knows if I will remember anything because I was already bad at remembering, due to my middle age :rotfl:
Rest of the day, well I have no idea. Fortunately DH is around to look after our son and his school is shut for the voting. I havent got a clue who is who but will look later online and hopefully get my vote in. Right, got to dash to make myself look human. Our presentations are being filmed  Big hugs to anyone needing one. See you later, God willing.“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. Your really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” Lucille Ball.0 -
Morning all:j:j
Very chilly here this morning.
Not much going on here at the moment really,
The Twins are still doing well at school. Twin two has come on very quick with her reading and writing. Twin One is slower but still coming on with it.
My chickens are still doing really well. We are still getting an egg of each one most days. But the older two have slowed down with there eggs.
This week I have heard that I have been put on the waiting list for my OP.
I have also received a appointment for a CT scan For two weeks today. (19Nov)
The CT scan is for Cranioplasty planning
See here http://www.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/mgi/cranio.htm
When they cut the bone out of my skull this time they will not be able to put the bone back. So Insted they will make a metal plate to cover the hole In my skill. The plate will be quite a large plate as they will be cutting out a large part of my skull.
In the past They have always been able to put the bone back after the ops that Iv had.
I don't have a clue when I will be having the OP.
I don't think it will be this side of Christmas,
I would like it to be as soon as possible as I hate waiting for anything!
Still time moves slow In the NHS and least I'm now on a waiting list.
I'm sure that the NHS keeps the waiting lists down by keeping long term problem people Like off waiting lists.
Don't forget its been 3 years now since they found this tumour, They have been keeping an eye on it until now.
They are pleased with me In a way as Iv had three other brain tumours removed over the last 12 years and Iv never had any regrowth of any of them.
Its just the new ones that I keep growing that's the problem.!
I have two at the moment. The one they are planning to take out and another one that has not changed since 2005. There are no plans to do anything about this one until it dose something.
Well that's my little world updated.
I hope that you all have a great day what ever you have planned.
Enjoy yourself s.
:j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0
