I got my cables today - also by City Link courier "next day delivery" in a nice big sturdy box (will come in handy for storage).

Just had a thought about the USB extension cable I bought (F3U134b10) and wondered if anyone could help (perhaps I should have posted in the tech forum instead !)

Does the cable only work at USB 1.1 speeds? The strange thing is that I cannot find the part number listed on the Belkin website. The closest match is Part # F3U134ea10 which appears to be the same but states "Fast, 12Mbits/sec transmission speed" - as far as I'm aware, this is the old USB 1.1 standard as opposed to the 480Mbits/sec achievable with USB 2.0.

Can anyone shed any light ?

Good point, I got some of those extension cables myself :)

These F3U134B10 cables are "officially" USB 1, however the only difference between USB 1 and 2 cables is the quality; the thickness of the cable and the amount of electric shielding determines whether it is suitable for USB 2 speeds.

In reality, you'll find that many cheapo USB 1 cables will work fine at USB 2 speeds. And in this case, the Belkin cables are of such a high quality anyway that they'll happily work at USB 2 speeds - I've done some testing with "proper" USB 2 cables and notice no difference.

    So there you go :)

My cables came today and they are USB2.0 ones - only problem is they must have run out of the 3.0m ones, because they sent me some 4.8m (16 feet) ones instead! Now I'll be able to put my peripherals all over the house and run them from the study!

Fantastic bargain at £1.68 delivered - saw the identical ones in PCWorld today priced at £14.99!!!

I ordered a Belkin headphone splitter connection via this offer on the 9th april, but it's been "in production" since the 12th.
Really looking forward to it now,as they obviously take great care when making the items.
Sent them an e-mail yesterday, but it's probably sitting on a desktop in Bombay somewhere.

    Well....

I ordered a Surgemaster Home Series and a USB cable over two weeks ago....

Six times I've called in the last 5 days.....

Five times I've been told someone will call me back because they haven't got a bloody clue what the status of my order it.....

Zero times someone has called me back.....

Today I call again, and FINALLY I'm told, delivery date is estimated as the 4th May!!!

    Communication ..... 0/10
    Service ..... 0/10

    Agree.
From previous Dell threads I knew phoning them would send me to Hospital.
I did recieve a reply of sorts today saying my e-mail was in their system and I would be contacted in a day or err.. 7.
Spot on customer service, all for the sake of a 2 quid connector.

My £2 connector arrived today by City Link,in a box big enought to fit a PC in.Well,I suppose it justifies the £8 charge they normally apply.
10 minutes later an e-mail came from the order watch service to tell me it was on the way. That was fast.
In several days the Bagdad people will probably contact me to say they have looked at the order, and will sort it out soon.
    Still,it's a quality connector,so I'm happy.
