Buyer phoning my home only 3 days after purchasing!

Is this normal?

Sell item Sunday night. Clearly states delivery within 6-8 working days.

Buyer first wants it send first instead of second. Doesn't offer to pay extra. I said I would look into it.

Next wants to know when it had been sent. Then not after getting immediate emails back contacts Ebay, gets my phone number, and starts trying to phone my home number - 3 times in quick succession (we have called ID and don't pick up the phone for withheld numbers)!

I've just sent them a lovely email back, saying I am not a business and don't appreciate being called at home. I've cancelled the transaction and refunded the payment. I missed the Post Office today - good job I did as I feel if the buyer had received it there would have been further problems!

Is this normal for Ebay now? Really don't like them giving out phone numbers.

Sounds a little weird for them to be calling you like that, Why did you refund? You could still get a negative feedback from them and you still have to pay for the FVF's

My experience tells me that if they are this much of a problem before the item has been sent, then they will be more of a problem when they have received the item. The item was electrical so problems could be potentially 'tenfold'.

Don't really care if I get a negative - Ebay seems to be full of idiots and don't really plan to use it again!

You are most probably right, I would have done the same and if it came to anything with ebay, perhaps say you were intimidated with the constant communication from the buyer. Definately ott!

Ebay is half full of idiots.. there are some good ones that use it too ;)

I agree it's lovely to deal with good people - I sold some old ski trousers to someone last week and got lovely feedback. Sadly there are some who treat sellers like they are businesses, and expect everything done yesterday for them.
  • I've had it once before-no idea even who it was as i had sold loads of bits around the same time and they didn't say what they had bought.
All parcels had been posted so just said it was on it's way.
Bit of a weirdo-i do feel you may have caused yourself a bit of trouble though with the seller if they decide to report you.
    Hope not though.

As do most people, but if for some reason this can't be done and the seller states as much in the listing, any buyer who bids or does a BIN on that item is agreeing to the stated terms.

If they needed it quicker than the 6-8 working days stated, surely the best thing would have been to contact the seller before bidding/buying to see if something could be arranged.

Today that would have been day 4 already without any sign of dispatch. Allowing for the original estimate of 6-8 days 'delivery' being for 2nd class it would appear to be edging out of the stated dispatch time.
