Seller used too much of MY money for postage.

The listing gave an estimated carriage charge which was also showing on the postage details.

In the listing it stated that they would refund the difference if the delivery cost less than they had charged.

They sent the bundle in two packages when they could have sent it as one.

Even then they didn't quite spend all the delivery amount they charged.

No refund has been forthcoming despite my numerous messages.

What are my options?

    When leaving feedback,

You can downgrade the DSR for post & packing charges.

The fact that the seller did not respond at all is asking for their communication DSR to be downgraded too!

I don't think I'd cause any more 'damage' than that.

If you don't mind me asking how much did they overcharge by.
If it is a large amount then leave it and just leave negative twice. EBay won't help in regards to postage charges but the star rating has scared most sellers into charging the correct amount for postage and packing. Especially now that accounts are being threaten with suspension for getting low star ratings.

Be fair though....some buyers leave neg for an over charge of maybe a quid. For that I would a positive and maybe 4 stars.

They overcharged by £5 but that was with them sending in two parcels so really more like £10.

I was just wondering if the fact they stated that they'd refund but haven't was something action could be taken about?

That's a hefty overcharge. I would be similarly unimpressed

No, I'm afraid eBay wouldn't do anything about it....the star rating is punishment enough. £10 is a lot. His lack of communication, false promise and crazy overcharge would result in a neg from me. Just don't threaten him with feedback.

If you're lucky he may refund you some money in exchange for feedback revision. Has happened to me and I was happy with outcome and revised feedback

I think he got confused by the MyHermes Parcel Checking Page and assumed the parcels were too big. I put them next to each other and input the length, width and height and it said OK.

However, I can't actually understand what they say about a parcel having a maximum length of 1.2m:

    If you input L 40cm w 40cm h 40 cm it says combined size = 200 cm
and that the parcel can be handled by the network.

If, however, you input 50 for the three dimensions it says the combined size is 250 cm and cannot be handled.

How do these combined sizes relate to the dimensions and how does the 1.2m come into the equation?

All I do know is that the delivery chap handed me both parcels at the same time.

I think the combined size is the girth all the way round the parcel plus the other dimension. There will be a limit for this (obviously something between 200 and 250).

The maximum length is a separate limitation. You could have a long narrow parcel say 10cm x 10cm x 150cm. The combined size would be 40+150 = 190cm which would be OK but the length limitation would be exceeded.

Other carriers multiply the three dimensions together and then divide by 6000 or 4000 to give a volumetric 'weight'. They charge at whatever is highest of actual or volumetric weight.
