A card in my name for my partners debt.

Hey!

Can any one tell me if it is possible for me to obtain a credit card for the purpose of a debt transfer from a card not in my name? I have good credit scoring, my partner has not, and can't get a 0% deal on £2300 from MBNA or Tesco. I will aquire his debt effectively.
Also if he had, say, a Barclaycard could he transfer it to another Barclaycard 0% offer?

Thanks.

most cards allow a balance transfer between people with different names as they only require the card number; however some don't so you will need to check

usually no companies allow BTs between their own cards

One other point - if you transfer the debt onto a card in your name then the debt is then yours. Your partner would no longer be liable for the debt - you would.

Don't want to sound all doom and gloom, but to make sure that you are clear the debt will become yours and yours alone.
