Car Insurance No Claims ... Advice Needed

I am hoping someone might give me some advice, I had previously got over 10 years NCD until Sept 2011 with my own car and insurance
I then had a job with a company car for the past 14 months and I have been given notice of redundancy and have the car until 7th Dec

After that I will be buying myself a car and requiring to insure it, do I have any chance of having any of my NCD reinstated or will I have to start from scratch or as my hubby has implied perhaps I should find another job with company car !!:rotfl:..... if only it was that easy !!

Thanks in anticipation

NCD up to 2 years old is accepted by most insurers.

Do you still have your old paperwork as evidence?
  • Thank you for the information, I will have a look for my paperwork and let's hope I do still have it

    Thanks again

If you have no paperwork, you may be able to find out who your insurer was by using askmid.com and entering a date when you still had your last car. Costs a few quid though. Then write asking for proof of NCD.

  • Ask your employer for a letter stating that you drove on their policy with no claims. That added to any old paperwork from the days when you had your own bonus should help. Shop around - some companies are more willing to give a full bonus in these situations than others. And tell them what you want - when they say 'We can give you 2 years' bonus' say 'Oh, that's a shame. I've been driving claim free for x years, so I was hoping for a full bonus.' It works, but like I said, some companies are more willing than others.

The OP's 10 years NCD is still completely valid, so no issue on not getting full discount!

(Assuming he can find his proof of NCD)
