What do i do with the £1000 ?

I have recently opened an A&L current account and online savings account.

As i have money in my Barclays account,i wanted to transfer it to my A&L online saver.I noticed that you could log into the A&L saver,and request money FROM my Barclays account,which i did on the 3rd April.

On the 6th April the money duly arrived into my A&L saver as it should.I then logged into my Barclays account and saw the money had left on the 6th,O.K i thought.I then noticed that the money had been returned to my Barclays account later in the day.

I have rang Barclays,they told me that the transaction had been declined because the direct debit had been cancelled,strange i told them,as the money was now in both my A&L account and my Barclays account.

I went back into my A&L saver,and requested another £1,just to see if that goes through O.K.

I have since rang A&L,and told them of the situation,they informed me that the money was diffinately in my savings account and they direct debit details are correct,and they noticed that a transaction for £1 was pending,i explained that i was testing the system,so i was told to wait for it to be deposted before ringing again.

So at the moment,i have a £1000 in limbo....A&L say it is in my account....Barclays say it went out,but was returned.

I don't hope to keep the money as it is not mine,and i want to sort this out.

But i do want to empty my Barclays account soon,because my A&L accounts are up and running.

Both parties have been informed of the situation,so i can't be accused of trying to cover it up.

Has this happened to anybody?

My boyfriend does the same as you and transfers money from his Barclays current account to his A&L online saver and other than the 3 day waiting period he hasn't had any problems so far.
