What shall I do with my Heating Allowance?

This week I received my £200 heating allowance, and last month I received my £130 warm homes discount. Last year my total fuel bill was £380, and I have recently spent £40 on thermal underwear.
There are people in Europe who are in far greater need than me.
Should I join UK UnCut?

TruckerT:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

No doubt there are people in your own town that are in far greater need than you.
If you dont need it, find a local person who does.0 -
Treat it as a tax rebate.
If you can afford to give money to charity, and want to, then fine. But there's no need to relate the two things. How many families that could afford to give their child allowance to charity do so I wonder ?No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

I understand your comment, but for me it sounds a bit too much like the Margaret Moran approach to fiscal morality. She is now officially mad, and I would prefer not to follow her down that particular road any further than I have already done so.

If you are being serious, theres a charity setup to recycle this collosal waste of taxpayer cash and put it to good use, targetted at those who most need it.

I guess I was trying to think of a meaningful way to challenge the idiocies of the UK welfare state.

Total fuel 380 a year, do you chop your own wood? We still get through 800 quid a year of gas.
You could burn the cash. Ironic and deflationary at the same time,0 -

If I'm beginning to sound like Margaret Moran I'd better stop posting and go into retreat for about six months.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
