Can I set-Up A Direct Debit against my credit to pay for monthly outgoings?

I have just got a Tesco Credit Card and was hoping to get some extra Clubcard points here and there and wondered if I can pay for things like gas, electricity, water etc via a direct debit against my credit card account as opposed to my normal bank account.

Is this at all possible or not. I have a feeling it isnt but wanted someone else opinion!

Thanks :)

No, you can't. You can pay bills using your credit card but it's rarely ever worthwhile as you'll lose the direct debit discount and usually get charged a fee

DD only apply to current a/c and not credit cards although yopu may be able to set up a coninuous payment authority.

some companies allow payment by CC so you need to check each of your bills to see whether they allow payment by CC and if so whether they charge a fee

Probably not, but it's possible that some suppliers may allow you to pay with a CC. You would need to check each one.

My broadband is paid for every month automatically from my CC.

Scottish Power used to offer 5% discount if you paid a year's electricity upfront - not sure if this included payment by CC, though.

Hi there, we don't offer a pay in advance tariff any longer, although we do have some customers still on it. We have to charge a 1.5% per transaction fee on CC payments, so we encourage customers to either pay by debit card or set up DD via their bank account. We don't accept DD instructions from a CC. Hope this helps. Thanks David @ ScottishPower
