I use a 2 cup cafetiere from Argos and Lofbergs Lila 'Harmoni' organic ground coffee from Sweden. Even paying 6.20 for 250g coffee, I'm pretty sure I'm paying waaaay less for my black coffee no sugar than someone using a fancy coffee system.

Not knocking the Nespresso coffee BTW as my mother has one and I like the purple capsule (whatever that is) but they ain't exactly cheap.

Interesting your coffee is from Sweden, my father rates IKEA coffee for his regular cafetiere brew. I guess/ hope most people are pricing fashionable gadgets and pods up against a daily coffee shop offering. Does demonstrate the power of advertising tho. :(

Tassimo do the Cadbury and Suchard discs. I got a machine at Xmas from my work for £35 which included £20 worth of discs ! I'm not a big coffee drinker but my son and daughter love it ! They also do green tea discs too which i do drink but will continue to buy the teabags as they're much cheaper.

My brother is a coffee snob though and has a Nespresso machine !
  • I've got a dolce gusto machine and the nespresso machine. The latter is out of warranty now, so I've been buying my favourite coffee from Whittards and using the empty pods that you can get on amazon by the hundred or so. It's a bit of a bind filling the pods up but it's a lot more coffee for your money. Hasn't messed machine up (yet). I admit to still buying the official pods for the gusto machine, purely because I like them so much.

I love my nespresso. No way would I go back to a cafetiere. I base my opinion on having used the machine and having drunk the coffee not what the TV adverts say.

Scandinavians are big on coffee and Lofbergs is a popular niche brand in USA.

I went to Starbucks once and Costa once and they may be great for fancy stuff but for black coffee they both gave me something I felt was bitter and overbrewed. :(
