nespresso capsule prices - am I missing something?
Options
I've ordered a nespresso machine and was looking at capsule price - on the nespresso site they are about 30p each, but they are also available on ebay and amazon, but they seem to be more expensive than from the official site - have I missed something?
Also can anyone recommend any way to make a hot chocolate from a nespresso machine?
And, does anyone recommend any other capsules?
TIA

Hopefully you will be getting the £40 off your next order offer.
If you wanted Hot Chocolate etc you should have gone for a Dolce Gusto Machine.
Nespresso machines are purely for espresso making.
You can get refillable capsules on line, never tried them myself, they could gum up your machine and void the warranty.
The only way of officially buying the capsules is from one of the boutique stores or the club.
I fail to see why anyone would want to pay more via Amazon or Ebay.
My favourites are Ristretto and Volluto.
BTW Are you getting one of the new U machines? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Duallit make pods too Costco have them or online.0

My nespresso has the frother which heats the milk up for latte and cappuccino. You could buy a frother and pour the milk onto your chocolate powder but there is not a chocolate capsule.
My favourite is decaffinato, whis is currently George Clooney's fav in the new nespresso advert! I like Volutto as well. I have those in latte or cappuccino though, I only occasionally have a pure espresso. TBH I like most of them. I had the 16 cru box and there were only a couple I really didn't care for.0 -
I am getting the new U machine, with aeroccino for £123 (after a 10% code and quidco at debenhams).
I'm not fussed about hot choc really but the kids wanted it - tough luck kids you'll have to make do with frothy milk from the aeroccino ! ;-)
Once it arrives I'll be sending off for the £40 credit, I'm also looking at the nespresso site offer to new sign-ups - 250 mixed capsules for £75.50 with a discovery box - if the range are all ok it seems a decent price to get the box included. :cool:0 -
Just a note to people who don't know, don't be tempted to pay for Nespresso delivery the standard free delivery is excellent and arrives the day after most times.0

What PLRFD says about delivery is correct. We have been with them just over a year and found this to be the case. However, please heed my warning over their ‘Aeroccino’ machines – they’re expensive, badly designed, difficult to clean and prone to breaking down.
After getting very 'tempramental', ours has just gone kaput, and even though we bought ours at the same time as our coffee machine –from the same store – we can’t find the actual receipt for it, and now they’re refusing to exchange it for a new, working one.
It’s not like Aeroccino’s are available in cheap backstreet copy form or anything – they’re very specialised items and it pains my partner and I that they won’t accept our word for it, as we’ve been loyal Nespresso customers for the past year.
All the good natured bonhomie of ‘Hey, look – we’re all in this great club together’ has flown out of the window now things have gone wrong. I’m really peeved about it and they’ve now lost a customer! I’m getting my nice old Gaggia out of storage and they can stuff their capsules where the sun don’t shine.

Hi
The capsules sold on Amazon and the like must be "grey" market as the Nespresso Boutiques and the online store are the only authorised distributors.
Last time i ordered lunctime on a Sunday and they had been delivered before lunchtime on Monday, and that was with their standard delivery. I could not beleive it!
I brought mine last January with Christmas money and can honestly say it has been worth every penny. I have not drunk instant at home since!0 -
Filled out the registration, but the introductory offers (£75 for 250) are no cheaper than the regular price. So not an 'offer' at all.
Having just bought the machine, I'm pleased with the results, but not with the capsule price. I will be looking around to see if anyone brings out a competitive (any so cheaper) capsule.0 -
Keep looking revesby the patent on the capsules ran out last year so hopefully other brands will become available.0

I use a 2 cup cafetiere from Argos and Lofbergs Lila 'Harmoni' organic ground coffee from Sweden. Even paying 6.20 for 250g coffee, I'm pretty sure I'm paying waaaay less for my black coffee no sugar than someone using a fancy coffee system.
Not knocking the Nespresso coffee BTW as my mother has one and I like the purple capsule (whatever that is) but they ain't exactly cheap.0
