help please dont understand why im being refused

Hello i have just applied for a Nat West Credit Card as my old M & S 15 month 0% is coming to an end and was refused. This has horrified me:mad: have managed since the age of 22 to get a good credit card with either 0% purchase or transfer balance rate, im now 39, have never missed a payment on my mortgage or credit card and have no loans. Got my Experian report straight away and i have a credit score of 100!:j was in my previous job for 12 years and have been in my current one for 14 months (am wondering if this is it) and have lived at current address for 5 years. Is it because i have never paid interest on a credit card and they are fed up with me or have i done something wrong - could i appeal - i guess if these have turned me down then the rest will . Help Jenny

Do you cancel your old credit cards or keep them?

Having too much available credit could result in you being turned down

  • Have just been googling exactly what you have asked me and realise that i have nigh on 100k in credit card limit - when i think about it that worries me let alone the credit card companies they just send new cards and i bin them when i should be cancelling them. Do you think if i cancelled them all it would sort it out?

    That would explain it

You have a high availability of credit. Closing them would help, it will take a couple of months to definately update with the various credit reference agencies
    For everthing else there's mastercard.
    For clampers there's Barclaycard.
