Oak Furniture Land - No Compensation rule!!

After waiting for 5 months for my matching cabinet/table and chairs I found all items to be damaged and of a very poor quality. After following all the complaint procedures I have been told that they have now 'suspended' the 'Shabby Chic' range due to bad weather in India and that they can't replace the items.
All they have offered is to arrange for a furniture repair company to come to my home and cover up the bad workmanship.
I have refused this and all they have offered is to change to a different range of furniture (that I don't want) that will take another few months to arrive.
What are my consumer rights? Oak Furniture Land have told me they have a no compensation policy and that basically I have no choice.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has been ripped off by this company.. Who know's what I can do?!

So have they agreed the quality is poor ?
If so, you have rights under the SOGA. You may need to take them to court though, if their ridiculous policy is correct.0 -
Joe Shilling, you have told us what you don't want, but you forgot to tell us what you do want.
How long have you had the goods?0 -
If you ordered them as a single order of matching items, and they can't supply the whole order, tell them you are rejecting the order and you want a full refund, and they have 14 days to come and collect the goods at their expense.
If you paid over £100 on credit card the credit provider is jointly liable.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
We were goingto visit one of their stores after Christmas with a view to buying some furniture.
Do you think you have just been unlikey OP or do you think all their furniture is substandard?

Clare64, my hubby and I went to OakFurnitureLand to look at buying some furniture when we completed on our house - all looked great on the website etc but we wanted to see it in person.
In fact we found the finish was pretty poor. Yes, it's solid oak and comes fully assembled, but it just didn't look that great - doors didn't shut neatly, gaps between cupboard door and hole were uneven, just didn't really look like it had been done with care.
We ended up buying from Next Home, and although the furniture we went with was only part solid oak and part veneered, we think it is of much better quality and has a better finish.0 -
Thanks Lavendyr
Like you we thought it looked good on the ads and online and good value for being solid wood. I suppose if something looks too good to be true then it probably is.0 -
OFL get mixed reviews per a quick Google.
I seem to recall reading that they (or a very-similar-sounding company) are a phoenix company (dissolved and opened again as a new name but same staff and stock). Don't take this at face value though - do your own research as I may be wrong.0 -
hi
my wife and i recently bought a bed , wardrobe and chest of drawers from the tokyo teak range from this company. The items arrived quicker than expected but when i opened the box containing the chest of drawers i could'nt believe my eyes as it was practically in pieces as it had obviously fallen from a great height. Next to be opened was the bed which was quickly assembled and as i sat upon it , it collapsed. Now i'm a joiner and when i inspected it i noticed that the rail which supports the slats had simply been tacked in place with tiny pins and not a screw in sight. CRAP is the wrong word for this rubbish.
After contacting them on xmas eve and with my wife due to give birth any day now i was asked if i would like to exchange. After xmas day and having had time to think i contacted them again telling them that i wanted a refund on the bed but that i would accept to exchange the drawers and wardrobe for the same items but in oak , however i did not expect to have to pay another £147 for this. I explained that by choosing oak it would be easier for me to find a matching bed elsewhere.
As i mentioned my wife is due to give birth and as we dont have a bed as we have just moved home we have had to sleep on the floor but this company were'nt bothered and they behaved almost as if it was my fault.
When i first reported the issue i was given the impression that the items would simply be swapped over but now i'm an extra £147 out of pocket . I can't explain how angry i am but i will never, never buy a single item from this company. If my wife had of fallen through the bed i don't think that , that would have concerned them. Please take my advice and avoid them like the plague
their furniture is mass produced rubbish and so is their attitude0 -
For Oak furniture, we bought from a company that sell on Ebay, who I think were called Teako. Fabulous customer service and really good quality. Cheaper than Oak Furniture land and much nicer - we'll be ordering some more once we've saved up.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
