Put a wpa-psk/tkip encryption password on in the router config, and tell your PC's what it is.

That's possibly the most helpful post I've seen on here so far.
Anyway:
The guide on microsoft to this is actually a pretty good starting point for you OP. It is here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/wireless.mspx#3
Thats for a lynsys router, but its the same principle. Browse to the router in your browser and configure from there. There should be a pretty decent guide in your router manual if it came with one??
Any problems post back0 -
Oh and WEP is practically pointless, very easy to circumnavigate. WPA is a mroe secure encryption.0

WEP (Wired Equivalent Protocol) isn't very secure, but I still always use it as well as all the other better ones and recommend others do so too.
The analogy I use is that, like WEP, doors and locks are not secure. Locks can be picked and doors can just be kicked open. So, when you leave your house, do you leave the door open? Of course not. You shut the door, lock it and - if fitted - arm the alarm, etc.
Good security should be like Caernarfon Castle - the more concentric walls, some more difficult than others, an intruder has to fight his way through, the better. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

Oh yes definatly, it is certainly better than nothing at all, just when ever somebody asks about wireless i recommend them to use WPA as it is obviously more secure, and unlike locks on doors as in your analogy it doesn't cost anything further to use the more secure version if your router already has the capability to do it.
I don't run any security on my wireless network at all, but I have a lot more fun with anyone who dares step on it. Google for "upside down ternet" if you are interested, that amongst other things. muwahaha0 -
