Buying a Persimmon Home

Hi,

I know there are a lot of threads and posts on this site but I'm wondering if anyone can offer any advice on my sittuation.
My wife and I had plans to put a reservation fee down on a £370K house on phase 2 of a persimmon development when in October this year the sales woman called me to say they would offer us a bigger house for £360k which is on the very nearly complete phase 1 of the development, we went to have a look at it and fell in love with it. The house comes fully carpeted with all the white goods and an upgraded kitchen, and all for this discounted price (it was a deal that had fell through). We didnt hesitate in securing this with a £250 reservation fee. The only thing is we have still to sell our house. We put it on the market straight away but despite many viewers have been unable to sell yet. We are supposed to be signing missifs this week but are afraid there is no point because we haven't sold out house but we do have the mortgage in place. Has anyone had any good experiences of Persimmon actually helping them to secure their dream home? I have asked about part exchange but they originally said we would lose any discount. I've also read that we could be in a strong position because this is one of the last houses to be sold on the development before they start to build on phase two.

Has anyone been in a similar position or have any advice?

Many thanks.

You would be, if you were in a position to proceed. You should not have paid fees to progress the purchase when you were not in a position to proceed.

  • The sales person at the site and one of the sales managers said that Persimmon might "help" us if it came to D-day without us selling our house. I get the feeling they could either offer us part ex or extend the date the missifs have to be signed.

I'm sure they can. The deal will be structured to take as much profit as possible for Persimmon, my least favourite builder in the UK.

It would have been better to wait, IMHO.
