HSBC Unauthorised Overdraft

Hi I've been a fan of the site for some time now and receive the weekly email, now I need some help off one of the many experts I see posting around here.

Basically I have a HSBC current account with no overdraft facility, I can got to £10 overdrawn free of charge but after that |I get hit with a £25 charge.
Me and my partner are currently struggling as she has lost her job and payday for me is still 14 days away, I have a £25 charge going out on the 20th which will put my balance to approx -£20, my question is will this charge result in me getting another charge the month after?

Is there away I can explain the situation to the bank and stop the charge being taken being as it is a joint account?

Thanks for any advice and |I hope I've put this in the right area :)

If it is a first offence, ring them and talk nicely they may reimburse you. (but you have to get it back into the black first) because, yes, you will be charged again if you are overdrawn.

Why dont you organise an overdraft facility.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • They won't give me an overdraft facility because of having my account shut down when I was around 17 for owing them around £15 (6 years ago) even though at the time they realised it was there error quickly enough and reopened it so unfortunately an overdraft isnt an option, I can opt to pay around £12 p/m i think to stop all charges, never been necessary before but with just my income may help stop charges. :(
