wow.......
and the chairman says... THIS BENEFITS taxpayers!!
Best not to believe how Murdoch's puppets like to spin things
This is what he actually said:
http://news.sky.com/story/1011215/energy-firm-sse-defends-38-percent-profits-riseLord Smith of Kelvin, the firm's chairman, said: "While some observers may choose to criticise SSE for making a profit and paying a dividend (of 25.2p per share - a rise of 5%) I believe that profit and dividend allow SSE to employ people, pay tax, provide services that customers need, make investments that keep the lights on and create jobs while providing an income return that shareholders like pension funds need."

I've hedged our energy bills by buying shares in SSE, Centrica and Shell. At least now when they put the price up I get some of the benefit!I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -
Ditto - like most utilities SSE pays a good dividend rate: about 5.7% effectively tax free.0
