Business Fuel
Options
Hi all,
I've had to use my car a lot for business miles this month and have paid for the fuel upfront and will be reimbursed at the end of the month through my wages. Will this reimbursement be classed the same as overtime etc as it will mean my wage is greater than the 10% allowance therefore losing out twice in my mind.
Anyone had/have similar experience? Will ask my IP when I get a minute to ring them.
Thanks

As long as it's detailed on your payslip under 'expenses' this will show that the payment is a reimbursement and not an additional payment.0

HMRC allow you to claim tax relief at the rate of 45p per business mile (for the first 10,000 miles, 25p thereafter). Thus any car allowance paid to you by your employer, exceeding that amount IS taxable profit (ie: income). The reverse is true if you get less.0

Expenses don't get including as wages.
If they are paying you a figure as expenses, you should be ok. If they increase your gross salary a random sum to cover fuel then you will have to pay 50% of that."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -
Thanks for the responses, not had a minute yet to phone my IP. I know on my wage slip fuel is listed separately but not sure on the wife's and she's racked up more miles than me.Roll on DFD, final payment 1st October 2017 :beer:0

I spoke to my IP today and asked about this, provided the fuel/expenses are clearly identified then it's deduct-able from the the paid wage before considering if it's over the 10% value. Phew, a little relief thankfullyRoll on DFD, final payment 1st October 2017 :beer:0
