This lot sent a letter to my OH introducing themselves and "offering" their services as they had noted that he may have recently had a CCJ issued against him.

When he called them to find out how they got his details, they told him that they'd purchased the right to access his details from the court.

Surely this is against the DPA, he was absolutely outraged (and so was I when he told me) that they'd managed to obtain his details seemingly from the courts.

This may be a duplicate post as I responded a while ago but it has not been recorded!

Surely the CCJ is a a matter of public record. The DPA doesn't come into it.

If I am convicted of murder, my name is published. And it's not just criminal convictions which are matters of public record - if I get married or divorced that also is a matter of public record.
