Right, where do i start?

My paper work keeping is appauling and i probably have everything somewhere but finding it is a different matter. I hadn't claimed for anything as i have no details of anything but thought you might be able to tell me where to start. We have had loans, gredit cards and mortgage and most of these with Lloyds tsb and probably most of them joint. We have a loan at the moment and when we took it out 2 and a half years ago was told we had a better chance of getting it if we had the insurance, They got the first payment of £86 and we cancelled payments. But i'm sure we have paid this on other loans, i remember paying a loan early and the letter saying something about insurance? I didn't even know till that point we had been paying it.
I think we have had things with others but these would be the easiest to find i think. So how do i start? Sorry, i'm not the best for brains.
