Applying for a new credit card

Hi,

I currently have a credit card in which has a small balance that I'm looking to pay off over the next month. It has a very high credit limit and the interest free period is due to expire.

I'd like a new credit card which offers an interest free period on purchases - is it wise to close the current card I have, wait for it to appear on my credit report as closed and then apply for the new card?

Many thanks for any advice

Comments

  • No. There's no guarantee that you will get a new card and it would be unwise to leave yourself without one.

You could always lower the limit on your existing card if yo're worried about the level of existing credit.
