thinking about moveing supplyer from scottish power to npower but my contract ends on 30th november with scottish power should i wait until after that before applying

To play safe, don't contact nPower until you are within nPower's cooling off period (often 10 working days, but check first) to the end of your current contract. The new supplier doesn't usually contact the old one until the cooling off period has expired.
It typically takes 4-6 weeks to transfer, so you may have a few weeks on Scottish Power's standard tariff, but for a short period, that isn't going to amount to an awful lot of extra cost above what you'd be paying anyway.

brandytoots if you are on a tariff with cancellation fees these will apply if we are notified of a transfer before the end of the tariff, however, as chanz4 correctly points out by the 16th we won't receive notification before the end of the month so you will be fine to request your transfer then. To be on the safe side you can tell us you want to leave due to Price increase - this is known as right to cancel - and we definitely won't apply cancellation fees. Thanks David @ ScottishPower
