Is this a strange present to offer - An advent Calender?

I have 4 nieces and nephews between 4 and 8 in Australia and New Zealand. I wondered if instead of buying them a christmas present I might ofer to send them a lego/ moshi monsters/ Playmobil/other advent calender of their choice - there is loads of choice on amazon that I don't think they get over there. I know they don't have nearly as much choice as us, if at all, and I know between them they like all of those themes. I have one niece who has severe allergies, so chocolate is not an option and wondered is that a really strange thing to offer, or would you go for it if you were their parents?

Considering how much some of the advent calenders with toys in cost, I would think they would be very appreciative of the thought and offer.

Well, it's not strange as such... but I would turn it down if I was their parents: I've already got Lego advent calendars for each of my kids! Maybe just check they haven't bought their calendars yet? Do people really wait until the start of Advent before buying their calendars? The Lego ones are so popular, I was worried they might be hard to get hold of if we waited...

I don't know if it would be of interest to you but Tesco are doing free international delivery you could maybe send them t shirts or pj's of their favourite characters & don't have to worry about paying for postage http://www.clothingattesco.com/international-information/page/international-delivery/
    Booo!!!
  • Sounds like a great idea and would mean they had something to do all of the Christmas period instead of tearing open presents on the day and then forgetting half of them!
