Comparing portable sat navs
Options
Can anyone offer comments on the following:
Snooper Syrius; Tom Tom Go 510 and Tom Tom One?
Especially: do these units all have a UK 'voice', how expensive are map updates and does any one of them find and hang onto satellite signals any better than the others? I only need a system with UK maps.
My present Navman icN520 seems slow to locate a satellite and map updates are over £100.
Thanks for any help.

Nearly all satnavs now come with the SiRF 3 receiver and are much improved from the older generation like the one in your Navman 520. Navman, Garmin and Tomtom all have english voices, the tone will be different for each one so worth trying them out first, not sure for the snooper.
I get the impression that the syrius is a nice unit but not sure its worth the extra over the Tomtom ONE or the Garmin NUVI, plus the fact that the map updates will probably be limited and more expensive. Map updates for the Garmin and Tomtom are about £40. The only advantage of the Tomtom 510 over the ONE is having bluetooth for mobile handsfree, the 510 is bulkier.
If your planning to use speed camera warnings the snooper is £100 for the lifetime of the product or for the others use the one at pgps which is £19 a year, depends on how long you keep the unit.0
