I have taken Tyson round to my parents this evening to visit.
Mum decided to show me her new accordian.
The minute she started playing, Tyson sat down in front of her and started howling along!
He makes a natural buskers dog!
Is it because he does like it or doesn't like it? He also howls along to certain songs on the radio too.

I believe (no evidence though) that it is to do with the pitch and dogs have more sensitive hearing and so respond to higher sounds as it could possibly be painful/annoying/whatever (we don't know!).
My dog does the same with high pitched sounds except it's more of a whine.0 -
Yeah I did wonder if it was that.
Although I would have thought if he didn't like it he would bark at it or jump at it? He has no trouble in telling me he doesn't like the vacuum cleaner!
This was definitely a howl, with key change, punctuation and everything! Felt like giving him a stool so he could do a proper Westlife key change stand up performance!
Will try and get a video later0 -
My Lhasa apso howls!!
She started with the chimes from the ice cream van. Now we have moved, she howls when my DH plays his harmonica :rotfl:
I'm trying to encourage our new puppy to howl, but nothing too significant yetCan't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
We have 2 ice cream vans that come round our close, my dog howls along to one of them but not the other. Yet they sound the same to me. I look forward to hearing your singing dog

Years ago there was a chinese prog on telly (ken holm or whatever I think, had a high voice).......mine used to sing through the whole prog.....it's the pitch. Ex's dog used to fetch harmonica to encourage a 'singing' session........lolYep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0
