Couple of questions to help everyone
What Budget , and does it need to scan, separate scanner and printer tends to be better in the long run, if one goes you don't need to replace the "All-in-One"4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Whatever printer you buy - make sure you can fit one of these to it............

epson printers are usually cheap and compatibles for them can be bought via ebay.
santer and I would usually post some ebay sellers from which we have bought from and recommend.
as for yangs post about CISS Continuous Ink supply systemyes these can be cheap to run, but if like me you dont use a printer everyday to print everything aka low user. then I would suggest compatibles cartridges.
simple reason, simple to change, no ink to play around with. and pretty cheap.
Via ebay, epson compatibles can be had for as little as 50p per cartridge and usually come with 3 times as much ink as epson originals.
Epsons 6-8ml, compatibles 13-21ml depending on seller / cartridge via ebay.
alternative to the compatibles and based on the CISS, are refillable ink cartridges. basically you refill them when ink is low and they automatically reset themselves so you just buy compatible ink and refill.
But as I said depends on how much printing you intend on doing.
example: Me, i bought 14compatibles 3 years ago, and i have 1 set left I only print when i want/need to and the prints are good enough.
Print i have is a epson SX200, dont think you can get that anymore I would be looking at something like a SX445W for around £50 or less.0 -
It would help if you said what you need to print, and how much. Mono, colour, photos...?
The cheapest printers to run are laser printers, but they cost more in initial outlay. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Last time I needed a new printer I went here:
http://www.ijtdirect.co.uk/?il=1&gclid=CN6Wiqe3zrMCFerItAod5wcAgQ
I picked one of the 'free' printers. I say 'free' as really you are buying a job lot of ink and a printer, but it still worked out cheaper than buying it all seperately on e-bay. And i find e-bay a pain to search printers unless you know what you are looking for specifically.
Niv
I have enough cartridges for years and when they run out I may go back for a new printer/ink deal or look to e-bay for new cartridgesYNWA

To be honest about £60 it won't be used very much at all! Scanning the odd thing and printing my money off coupons. Thanks samSam B0

10 cartridges with 19ml of ink in each. £8.89 2sets + 2 extra black0 -
I've bought from 3000rpm and been very happy with them. Agree with all the espson recommendations. How about the Stylus 305 at £60, and they have cartridges for £4.5 for a set of four.0
-
£4.50 is for more than 1 set. 2-4
£5.50 is for 1 set
£4 for 5 plus sets.
The genuine inks feature 5.9ml of black ink and 3.5ml of coloured ink per cartridge doesnt say how much are in the compatibles makes them expensive.
not much ink in them compares with the ones i mentioned which have 13-18ml per cartridge and.
bottom link of my post above also compatible with the printer above.0
