Do I need to notify Halifax I'm going abroad to use my Clarity CC?

Hi guys.

I'm going away on business/leisure to a few countries (Switzerland, Brazil and Netherlands) and I will be using my shiny new Halifax Clarity Card in these countries.

Do I need to inform Halifax I'm going away or should it be fine to use the CC without being blocked when away?

If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.

It's always a good idea to let them know. Doesn't guarantee it won't be blocked, but can at least be easier to get it unblocked.

    Yes.

Call them or pop in to branch. Doesn't take long.
  • I would especially as it's a new card so they won't be aware of your typical spending patterns. I used mine in Slovenia, Italy and Austria this summer, informed them in advance and had no problems at all.

I would however always take a back up card just in case one gets lost, stolen or swallowed by an ATM.

Thanks guys. I've since phoned Halifax and they duly noted my upcoming whereabouts. The helpful lad on the phone even asked if he could come in my suitcase!! Thanks again.

Fraud systems DO NOT WORK ON YOUR SPENDING....
Sorry for shouting, but get fed up of people saying it works on your pattern, as it is totally wrong.

If going to Brazil.... You do need a backup card.
It is a very well known country for cloning cards. In fact if you can avoid using ANY ATM I would.....
