I am claiming from barclaycard and they offered me £200 which i wrote to them and declined as i am claiming £550 , anyway.. my account has been closed for over a year and they have opened the old account and put the £200 into the creditcard account... which I am very p****d off about as I have no card for the account and I'm sure they can't just open a credit account without my permission..can they???
Any help apreciated!

How very odd. Phone them and tell them you require the money to be taken back and a cheque for the full amount - and put it in writing too with a copy of the evidence (in case they plead ignorance)LBM 22nd February 2007 - Amount in debt £72,242.23:confused: one month on  £63,900;) 2nd month 60,000.09

The account was a credit card account and the monies taken from that account so technically I would think it was legal for them to return the money the same way. Regardless of the account being closed they have reactivated it to receive the refund. They have simply reversed the charges as an admin action.
You dont have to accept it that way though. Since you dont have a card for the account I would take a trip to the nearest Barclays and get them to pay the money out as cash over the counter and close the account. Its the quickest option all round.
