Keeping Worming Tablets Down

Hi,
Wormed the dog this morning at about 10am. Did as it said on the packet as always and sure enough twenty minutes ago he vomited. This happens every time I try to worm him.
Are there any tips out there for keeping the tablets down? Are there some worming treatments which are better than others?
My old dog used to be fine with all tablets but Chip seems to struggle with them.
Thanks

What brand(s) have you tried?
You could look into a topical treatment. Advocate, for example, is a flea treatment spot-on but it covers many of the worms. You only need to additionally treat for tapeworm, which my vet recommends doing every 6 months (so not as often as with other worms). For that I use Drontol, or an alternative version (same ingredients) of it called Cestem.0 -
I too use Advocate and this is the time for his six monthly worming. I've used most of the brands in Pets At Home and this latest dose has been 'Beaphar'.
I may try again with the second tablet tomorrow.4.30: conduct pigeon orchestra...0 -

Have you tried Drontal Plus? I see that PAH do it but that you need to register the pet's details online so not sure if they stock it OTC, I don't ever use PAH so not familiar with their range I'm afraid!
I use Cestem from https://www.animeddirect.co.uk (no postage charges) which has never given my dogs any problems - it's pretty cheap so may be worth a try, not so much money wasted if the dog brings it up again! You can give it alongside food too, which may help.0 -
give it in a bit of Cheese.
theory being that the cheese helps the dog digest the tablet.
I think (but I'm not sure) some wormers can't be taken on a empty stomach and some can. I'm sure they'd put it on the packet if the dog had to have an empty stomach or take with food?just in case you need to know:

You might try a different brand entirely, for example there is Panacur paste & Panacur granules. I've not used them but remember a friend said her dog would not tolerate worming tablets. Why not ask one of the online pharmacies for their advice- some have free phone or e-mail question facilities.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

My poor dog always throws his guts up with any wormer.
I follow the instructions meticulously...a fifth of his daily food intake with the wormer first thing. Then nothing at all till about 6pm when he has a normal sized meal.
Sure as anything, 15 minutes later, he throws up.
I just live in hope that enough of the wormer got absorbed over the 9 or 10 hours between feeding to do the job.
Didn't know you could use spot on wormer though.0 -
Maybe have a look at a natural wormer? Diatomaceous earth is what I use and have never seen a worm. I think CSJ do something called Billy No Mates which is all natural ingredients too.0
