need advice

my taxi insurance needed renewing in march so i shopped around and found a policy for £700 through an agent they sent me a cover note and asked me to send proof of my no claims bonus i sent it by first class post .they sent me a letter asking why i have not sent proof .so i called them telling them i had but they said it was not received so a sent another copy first class post again the next thing that happened about a week later the local taxi licencing called me saying they have received a letter from my insurance saying my policy will be cancelled on the 28th of last month so i called my agent again asking them whats going on they told me they still have not recieved the proof .so i went to the local p/o and faxed it to them then i called them asking if they have it .they said yes and they will send me the policy soon .last week i had to renew my mot and take the insurance into the coucil today .last week i called the agent saying i have still not received the policy and if i dont get it by today i will be suspended.they said it would be sorted .but up until this morning still no policy i called them again and they got in touch with my insurance they have cancelled my policy and sending a refund of just over half the money if i want to be insured again i will have to pay £800 so for just over one months insurance its cost me £400 and i will lose this weeks earnings around £400.i am not happy about this shambles what can i threaten them with any advice ?

    I don't really know a great deal about commercial insurance so I can't really give you much advice, but it might worth contacting the FOS. I think they can help if you are running a business with a turn over of under £1/4 millon. Might be worth a shot? Alternatively, if you have a copy of their policy wording, check their complaints procedure which should confirm who oversees them in the event of problems. Hope this is of some help.

    Ombusdsmen are really helpful people. The name may suggest that they are worthless, but when you try them, they will come above your expectations. give it a go mate!!!

    thanks all with your advice i have phoned the insurance company and threatened them with phoning the fos im waiting to see if they are willing to sort this out
