I have a heavy car part which I wish to ebay. I don't want to restrict it to collection only as I feel I may get a much smaller price. I have never eBayed anything like this before, so would love some advice please on:
1) how to list. There are two other sellings listing. Respectives prices are £739 (part only) and £898 (this one includes fitting). RRP is £849. Both are on buy it now. What would be the best way to list it and at what price?
2) I have only ever posted RM before and simply taken items to post office. This is a large heavy box and came by city-link courier. What is the best way to send it? I don't have a printer and can't easily print a label unless I ask a friend.

Check the completed listings to see the true value of something.
Use the courier thread on here to find someone who will take the size and more importantly the value, most couriers can be booked via an agent, making them cheaper but you will have to factor in insurance.0 -
Thank you. Can I insure the parcel via the courier or do I have to organise this seperately?0

Have a look at someone like https://www.p4d.co.uk they will give you a varying scale of courier prices and services, most couriers start with either £20 or £50 compensation so you will need to check each one on the p4d website for exact costings for enhanced cover.
There are other courier agents like p4d and you may find someone cheaper. Although cheap doesn't always mean good!
And remember, usually places off the mainland and more rural will attract a surcharge.0 -

No, you pay the insurance element when you book the courier. For example, have a look at Gwizz here;
http://www.gwizzcouriers.co.uk/
There is a table on the right showing insurance prices, for your item it would be £12.50 (covers £751 - £1,000)0 -
Thank you everyone
Does anyone have any suggestions about listing. What price should I start at and should I offer a buy it now options.0 -
You really need to have a look at 'completed listing' to see how much your item sells for normally.
If it's a rare/sought after item that loads of people will be interested in then a 99p start 10-dayer might be worth a go (although this can be a bit scary as all the bids will come in the last few seconds!)
If, on the other hand, you have a price that you would be happy with, try a BIN. If there's one currently for sale at £739, you could try £699. Or you could match that price but offer the 'best offer' option.0 -
Just another one to suggest GWhizz couriers.
If you don't have a printer .... How about the local library. Recently my printer ran out if ink, so I went to the library, and for 10p printed out the label. Back home and stuck it on and waited for the parcel to be collected.0
