Another Equidebt Problem...

Hi,
First off, thanks for taking the time to read this thread
My wife recently received a letter from Equidebt demanding payment of an outstanding loan (~£300).
The alledged company that is owed money is 'TXT LOAN'. Neither of us have any idea what this might be for.
After checking out this site, we sent them the standard 'Prove-It' letter.
Equidebt have since replied with no 'proof' as to it being my wife that is responsible for the debt, just that it would seem to stem from around August this year.
What is the protocol now, to basically tell them to actually prove it? And in the nicest possible way, to go away if they can not!
Thanks again, in advance, for any help you can give us with this.

Thanks Fermi, that looks like just the ticket!

Please do go ahead and complain via the FOS if they are daft enough to ignore. The FOS will charge the fools £500 for the pleasure.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Can you send a prove it letter if your debt is stat barred and you wrote to them saying it was stat barred but yet they still write back with the same letters?
Because if it was / is stat barred a prove it letter might not work in this instance because they have nothing to 'prove' if you are going down the stat barred route - you know the debt was yours you just haven't done anything about it for 6+ years.
Hope that makes sense?0 -

In a case like that I would be inclined to send something like the follow up letter for when previous ones are ignored in this thread?

I'm assuming OP, that your wife hasn't ever had a loan with TXT LOAN?0

Hi guys,
To bring you all up to date, after sending the second letter to Equidebt, we received their standard "we're investigating and we expect to have an answer by..." letter, as expected. Thanks for the help with this Fermi!
Additionally we have received a fraud claim form directly from Txt Loan, to fill out, sign and return. Is this to be expected? In it they ask for bank details etc, which I am not particularly happy doing.
In answer to Bedsit Bob, this is the first time my wife or I have ever heard of txt loan.
Thanks again for taking the time to read and answer in this thread!0 -
I certainly would not supply them with your bank details under any circumstances. :eek:Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Hi Fermi. I haven't checked back here for a while; thanks for your reply!
As of yet we havent replied to Equidebt directly at all. Would you advise that we should? Or is that adding fuel to their fire in any way? In that case, do we just ignore?0 -

Until they can be bothered to provide that promised answer, then can't see that you have anything else to say to them?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
