Last time I tried a linux distribution about 5 year ago, I gave up. Poor out of the box driver support, messing about just to get something simple, poor performance and naff UI.
Just tried installing jolicloud OS on my atom based samsung n150 to see if things have moved on, and I'm pleased to report they have (a bit). Everything installed ok, user interface a lot nicer that those of past and seems quite quick. No where near the polish of windows or mac os, but then it is free. However, being new to linux I'm having problems completing updates.
When I run update manager, I am told not all updates can be completed, and to do a partial upgrade. If I select that I cannot upgrade, "an upgrade from robby to lucid is not supported with this tool. If I select close, all updates are greyed out. Tool worked earlier, I updated a few programs to try it out and restarted.
Google not much help...
Any ideas?

I'm sure jolicloud has a forum that would be far more knowledgeable that this one. - That is a specific forum for Jolicloud...0

This is a good forum.https://getsatisfaction.com/jolicloud/topics
Must admit i have never had a particularly easy time with these operating systems, probably too impatient.
The forums are usually very helpful if you are a new user.0 -
Hi jaydee, robby is a jolicloud iteration whilst lucid is ubuntu , not having had any luck installing jolicloud on my netbook , I went back to ubuntu , it sounds like something is very wrong, but what it is, sorry I can't help. I use ubuntu 12.04 (Pangolin) on my N140 but to get networking(Wifi) to work I had to use ndiswrapper4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex .
