Thank you for that, already a member of the site.
I'll do mine next summer. Nice to see what to expect.
Wonder what sort of sealant to use?
I'll ask Vauxhall to see if there is a replacement gasket.0 -
This isn't Corsa specific......
General reasons for cars flooding are.....
1) A hole or damaged seal
2) A lack of hole or drainage where it should be......
The hard part is finding the offending hole... be it a blocked drain or a damaged seal.....
If you can get it on a ramp you can look underneath for corrosion ...
You can try just getting it dry and then stick some talc down and use a tracer to work it out. (Anything from food dye to industrial)...
To do this you need to try one thing at once.... try pouring some over the windscreen and then check it drains with the bonnet up. then wait and check inside and see if you can see the food dye etc.
If its not this check door seals the same way......
Since you don't see much in terms of resale value you might mark a few bits of cloth but at least you can have a dry car!
If its the door gasket (sounds like a high probability from the Corsa experts) you can usually find used ones on eBay.... also a bit of bath/shower silicone sealant can do a reasonable patch up....0 -
I would have thought it would be easier to drill the hole from underneath to let the water out?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Yep, drilling the hole was what I was planning to do, not fix it properly - that's probably way beyond me!
Took some of the carpet up this evening, it was completely soaked - didn't realise it was that bad! To say there was a large pool of water sat there (front & back) isn't an exaggeration! It was too dark to get all the carpet out though (worried about cutting any cables or something silly like that!!) so I'll do the rest (and hole) tomorrow.0 -
If you're going to drill the hole from the inside, in the clutch pedal corner, make sure you check underneath there are no brake pipes / exhaust / cables that you will drill into.
You won't need to drill a hole if you take the carpet out , but you might still decide to, as it's easier than sponging up the water all the time.0 -
Hold on, its winter and all the leaves are falling from the trees, has nobody considered the obvious?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

this has been a problem for the corsa vans at dads work has had all thier corsa vans leak 53 55 06 07 08 vans, all diesels, some were fixed by onsite repair garage, some were "fixed but leak in heavy rain now" one has proved to be irrepairable and now the carpet is completely ruined in the front has a massive hole where it should be.
used to work at the same place as my dad and all the lads that had one complained about it, as well as a health and safety aspect one lad had his S reg escort van back because he refused to the corsa's now.
2 had brake servo bulk head leaks, those van were out of commision for 2 weeks for strip down. reseal, let set and go off, re trial to ensure seal is fixed with sitting outside and power washing it.
1 had the BCM fault.
another one had new drain aways fitted.
1 was fitted with no rear drain vent behind bumper leafs got it blocked.
1 couldnt find leak anywhere despite garages best efforts of going through ALL of commonly known leak faults.0
