Paypal account limited - help!

Hi all,
Last night I purchased an item from the US via paypal. The item value was approxiamately £750.
This morning I logged in to find that paypal have reversed the transaction and have limited my account. The transaction details show the funds being added to my paypal account, the currency conversion taking place and then these steps in reverse and a hold placed on the funds, even though the transfer from my bank account was successful. My bank account is showing that the money has not left (there are definitely enough funds to cover the transaction!)
Clicking 'Learn how to remove these limitations' show no steps to take other that 'these limitations will be removed upon completion of all pending transactions'.
Clicking 'Return to limitation details' shows the following 'For reasons relating to the safe use of the PayPal service we need some more information about the use of your bank account linked to your PayPal account.' but there are no details of any information required.
The email sent regarding the limitation says that 'we are unable to process your payment until the money has been added to your paypal balance. Once this has been completed, you will be able to send your payment and use your account normally'
Does this mean that my bank rejected the transfer and that they are expecting me to add the balance manually? If I do, will the payment then proceed or will I need to send the payment myself?

Got another email from PayPal regarding the transaction that was reversed.
It says that 'A review of the transaction below raised a suspicion that it may have not been authorised. As a result, we've reversed this transaction.' and to contact them if it was in fact genuine.
I have sent an email via their online contact form and am awaiting a response, if I don't hear from them by tomorrow I will phone them!
I could pay the merchant using a card but am going to hang fire until I hear from paypal as paying via a different method might hold up the un-limiting of my PayPal account.

Ok so I called Paypal yesterday and the person I spoke to said that the error was due to my bank not releasing the funds straight away and as this has happened twice in a short time (the other time was apparently on the 9th for a very small amount) my account was limited.
They said to wait until the transaction clears and the limits will be lifted automatically.
The thing is the money has now left my bank (transaction dated as 15/11) but has not showed up in my Paypal account.
I received a response to my email a few hours after I called and this states that I will need to resend the money after the limits are lifted however this will not be possible if I have zero balance!
My new question is will the funds show up? They have placed a hold for the original amount so surely any balance will be swallowed up by this?
Any thoughts? I am thinking I'll wait and see if it shows up on Monday and then call again. Just to update; Money was released yesterday and account limit lifted this morning so I was able to re-make the payment.
I know Paypal send out automated emails and responses when these things occur but the amount of conflicting information I received was incredible. 2 emails and 2 pages in my account saying 4 different things is a bit excessive!
