Monthly Direct Debit..In Credit, Refund?
Hi everyone :hello:
I am currently with EDF energy on the standard tariff dual fuel direct debit payment.
We are £100 plus in credit with them at the minute (I know we wont be after the winter lol) and this is my question...
I am going to switch to eon, I have a tesco clubcard too so it is kind of a bonus and also I read they are not raising their prices this year. Also EDF have ripped one of my family off so I am not amused in the slightest with them.
How am I best to get this credit refund without EDF ripping me off?, should I phone and ask for the refund then switch? or just switch to Eon and see what the final bill turns out to be???
I just want to give them less chance of ripping me off.
Common sense is telling me to go for the refund first but I dont want to trip myself up somewhere.
Thanks for any advice.

Firstly beware - you have fallen into exactly the trap EON set - they have promised not to raise prices this year - i.e. in 2012 - so watch them shove them up on 1st January which should just about coincide with when your switch to them goes through!
In terms of getting ripped off and the refund - its not going to make any difference - they will issue a final bill and either take it from funds you have available for a refund or if you've had that back expect you to pay the bill. I'd think it unlikely that they'd agree to refund £100 credit at this point anyway as winter usage will be higher and they'd expect you to have some credit in hand at this point.Adventure before Dementia!0 -

Yeah I know what your getting at .
I think ill prob go and switch and hope for the best.
I know what your saying with the prices rises, each company has their way of doing this, everyone rises coming winter then price reductions come spring/summer when people dont use as much.
Suppose its just a gamble, Tesco points will be a bonus though.

That they will get out of refunding me what I am in credit somehow after the final bill (if theres any credit that is and I think there will be).
The supplier cannot avoid liability to repay any credit balance due on the closing bill which *should* be provided a maximum of 6 weeks after transfer.
If that is the "rip-off" suffered by one of your family then they should have complained.0 -

Rumour on this morning's news -EON to increase prices by 11% in January:(0 -

I think I'd calculate my actual as of today before making any further decisions.
Just do a meter reading and calculate what your ACTUAL bill is....
If you have any problem doing that then post the reading and your tariff details. I'm sure someone can help.0
