I have been suing Barclays for £1365 (inc interest) and the bank have offered me £800 should I take it or ask then for more? I was hoping for about £1000 as the amount is £1075 without interest. Would I loose the first offer if i turn it down?

You can write advising you will accept the £800 in partial settlement without prejudice but that you will continue to reclaim the remainder. They may withdraw the first offer but you always have the option of court action for the full amount & interest. Good luck

You do what you want to do, if you want the full amount then continue your claim, if your happy with receiving £800 back then accept it.
In the end it's your money coming back to you, how much is your decide. Remember what Martin wrote in his article, don't been disappointment with not getting the full amount back but getting most of it back. Your still £XXX amount back then when you started.
Choose wisely and be happy with that, it's no one elses to decide."I AM THE GATEKEEPER OF MY OWN DESTINY" Nacho Libre

Is there a standard letter to accept a partial letter and then carry on to claim the rest back? if not what should i write in it?0 -

Hi I've read many post stating write back to them accepting partial payment. You wanna look at the main thread people, like Edinburghlass and asked her as she seems to be helping/guiding people through this process.
Good luck in your claim."I AM THE GATEKEEPER OF MY OWN DESTINY" Nacho Libre

Hi my name is Esther, warriorsith said you might be able 2 help I am suing Barclays for £1364.09 inc interest and they have offered me £800. I am a single parent and could really do with the money but was hoping for more like £1100. Some people have sugested taking it as partial offer and claiming rest but will they still give it to me? If you accept their offer as part payment and without prejudice you need to write and tell them that you will be proceeding to court for the rest and of course be prepared to do that.
You could add to the letter that you would accept £1100 for a quick settlement of your claim and thereby save the bank the court costs and interest.
Or if you feel confident phone the bank and suggest this but if they do make an offer tell them you want it in writing within 7 days.0 -
