Purchase protection on a lost return?

Hey guys, I wonder if any of you could give me some advice?

I bought a pair of jeans on-line, they didn't fit, so I returned them (to Sweden if it makes a difference). It's been 10 days and they still haven't arrived. Rather stupidly, I lost the tracking receipt but still have the till receipt.

Claiming through the Post Office is probably a dead-end and I think the maximum I'll get back is £50.

Could I use credit card purchase protection? I bought them using my Tesco Mastercard.

Thanks in advance.

Do they offer purchase protection for lost stolen?

I would not think that any chargeback would cover this. But I would check with them on this.

  • S.75 of CCA 1974 puts into law that the credit provider will be equally liable with the seller for the quality of the goods purchased.

You would be able to claim back the money from the credit provider if there was some problem with the goods and the seller could not/ would not mediate the problem and you were left out of pocket.

Here, the quality of the goods was as described, you just had a minor issue with sizing and the seller provided suitable mediation for the problem, however unfortunately you have interupted the mediation by losing your evidence of postage, which is not the fault of the seller. Also, the failure of your chosen carrier to deliver the goods is not the fault of the seller either.

There is no claim under this legislation - you will just have to lose or gain a few pounds i'm afraid!
