Yodel actually not too bad once you speak to a human

Once again I have had a purchase (Amazon) that was fulfilled by a supplier who used Yodel.
Of the three purchases I've had through Yodel recently, one was smooth and quick. The other two had problems. The most recent one showed (and still shows) that the item has not yet been sent out for delivery even though I received a card yesterday afternoon and the product yesterday evening. That's why we weren't in, we checked for imminent delivery and it wasn't forthcoming.
Yodel's website and their 0800 number were useless, as neither would accept our eight digit delivery number, and hence we couldn't continue. So, I tried to phone the local depot. First I accidentally phoned another depot, but they tried as best they could and would have given me my local depot's number if I hadn't had it already. My local depot checked out the computer system which they agreed showed incorrect status, contacted the driver, and arranged for the package to be delivered the same day (evening), which did happen.
So it seems that Yodel is actually a decent company once you get through to a human. It seems to be the non-functional computer systems that let them down.

Glad it worked out for you. Shall we wait to see how they cope in the run up to Christmas before we make a judgement? That's when they appeared to be overstretched last year.0

I was quoting from my experience that doesn't include Christmas.
But two of my Yodel delivered purchases had problems as far as the computerised phone and website were concerned, but the people whom I spoke to were eager to help, and did. So at least that tells us something about their computer systems: they don't seem to work even when not stretched. And the people working there: it isn't that they don't care about customer service.0
