Will this branch grow back?

Hi
I have a magnolia tree. The young inexperienced man I asked to prune it has gone and cut one of the main branches. From the main trunk there were three main branches and now there are two. Will it grow back? If so how long will it take?
Thanks

Will it grow back? probably not, in as much as any shoot that does reappear won't be in the same place. Magnolias aren't keen on, and don't need, heavy pruning anyway. There may well be more shoots from lower down, and you can cultivate one of these as a replacement, but it isn't ideal. As to how long... count the rings on the stump... each ring is a year's growth, so you'll have an idea from that. However, of course the other branches will have grown larger by then...0
