Advice needed on double glazing in progress

I am currently having some windows put in and I am a bit concerned

They have broken three panes of glass

Been unable to install one window due to it being damaged

They have said this can be rectified Friday and I believe them

But what I am concerned about and a professional may be able to help me, is the fact they are surrounding the internal edges of each window with thick white strips. I think it looks ugly. On the bay window they have cut strips ready for tomorrow but all most of it needs is a line of white mastic except one edge with a half inch gap

Is this white plastic trim covering for poorly measured windows?
