Ford Focus problem

Hi

I have a Focus Mk1, 04 reg, 1.6 petrol. I get an intermittent slight jerking, typically when accelerating in 2nd and 3rd gear.

The problem was quite bad during the snow last winter but almost disappeared after the clutch was changed recently.

The spark plugs are new and the leads have been checked. The timing belt is due for renewal.

Please help!

At what revs? Any engine lights?

Leads checked, How did they check them? Not expensive to replace.

Coil pack, EGR valve, MAF or MAP sensor. Injector fault.

    Need a decent diagnostic checkup.

Guessing revs approx 2000-2500. No engine lights. The leads were checked visually. Has passed emissions test on MOT.
  • when was the last time fuel filter was changed?

is there any sign that excess moisture is getting into the fuel?

is the an air vac leak? check servo hoses, and crank breather hoses under the platic inlet manfold ( inbetween manifold and engine block)for splits in them.

spray out the ICV (idle control valve) with brake cleaner/carb cleaner and check the vavle inside the hood whilst off check the rubber gasket.

Fuel filter.. Thats what i missed....

Also you cant really check the HT leads by looking at them.

In the dark you may see them tracking but wont tell you if they are breaking down internally.

Coil pack replaced, starter motor cleaned. Initial thoughts - car more lively and starts better.
