Wireless Card software question

Options
Hi,

We have 2 PC's (mine being the main one).

My kids have one which has a wireless connection. Last night there was 'no connection' on the kids PC (and still isn't). It's not picking up any devices in range either, and upon looking at the programs on the PC, I suspect that one of my kids has somehow deleted the software for the wireless card, as I cannot see it on the program list.

I don't have the software disk for the card (threw it out by accident), and have searched on google for '802.11g wireless card software', but can't seem to find any free software I can download.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do or where I can download some free software.?

I don't want to have to buy another wireless card unless I really have to.

What operating system? What make/model wireless card? You should be able to download the latest software from the manufacturers.

Use the restore function on the pc if you are using Windows XP go back to a point prior to your problems if that does not work follow the advice in the previous post details of the adapter can be found in the control panel, system, hardware, device manager and finally look in network adapters.

It's a 802.11g wireless LAN card using XP Pro. I can't remember the make or model of it, as we've had it for a while, and dont have the box or anything that came with it.

I will try the 'Restore' thing first and see what happens.

    Thanks for the advice!

  • Right Click on my computer, go to properties

Then go to Hardware - Device Manager (Start This)

    Look for Networl Adapters first
