Buyers wanting item sent one place and invoice posted somewhere else.

I have had a few buyers now wanting the goods sent to the paypal address, which is fine and as I do that anyway and can I pop the invoice in an envelope and post it to a different address that they provide me. Anyone else had this? Why is it and do you do it?

I am not sure of the question.

Neither am I, if OP is using an iPad though she may suffer the same problem i do where it writes nonsense if you use predictive text.

As an aside I only ever use the PayPal address to give me seller protection.

  • Ah! Yes, I have re read the title ow.

Op, are you posting to the PayPal address with an invoice elsewhere?

I buy for other family/friends and want the parcel to the address added, but the invoice to me, when it's a gift or business purchase.

Because they don't want their partner to know how much they're spending on eBay? ;)

Imagine the scene. A parcel turns up containing what looks like an expensive dress. The husband sees the parcel, watches his wife open it. "Wow, that looks great, it must have cost a fortune". "No, it was a bargain, only £5" ..... when in fact she actually spent £50 but got the invoice sent to another address so that her husband won't find out.

The above is not meant to be sexist in any way, just one scenario. If it offends you, swap the roles and swap "dress" for "car parts" :D

As a Seller/Buyer I use E Bay a lot. I often buy things that I want to send to a relative/friend direct. When you go through the payment procedure on E Bay this is an option open to all buyers. The postage is the same and you are covered because the delivery address is on the buyers profile..... No problem. You also have the option to change the delivery address when you go through your paypal address, I see no problem here and do it regularly.

It just confused me, as I thought paypal address was buyers address so wondered where the invoice was off to , if not the buyers address.

Any address entered at checkout on eBay is safe as that will be the specific address on the Paypal transaction. Another reason might be that since there is no-one at home it might be easier for the person to get it delivered to their office so something that needs a signature will get signed for there rather than a card being left at home and someone needing to go the the DO to collect it.

A non-eBay example is when I order pizza to be delivered to my boyfriend's house (Domino's has a facility to pay by Paypal) and enter his address at checkout, yet use my PP account which is registered to my own home address. They're happy to send out to his address.

I'm baffled.....why is there any need to post an invoice anyway? Surely you can email it and they can then download it if they wish?
