    Hi Firefox,

You are right... as yet he hasn't said no to early surrender, I stupidly wasn't too concerned about the deposit and gsc being brought up immedately in-case this did stir up the hornets nest.
He is coming tomorrow so I will know what his intentions are then.
I was going to send them tomorrow once our ink has been replenished and I am better placed to judge whether it is necessary. (He called after I posted the initial message to say when he was coming)
My immediate concern to be truthful was getting the notice in...I can ill afford any more rent to be spent if I can avoid it...I am almost certain he will mess about with the deposit.

    Thanks for your input,

    Kind Regards.

You have not served notice, you have simply requested an early surrender.

You write the same letter to be received by 6 December stating you will leave in or before 5 January. A valid notice to quit from a tenant is one month coinciding with a rent period.

My bolding - it's a tenancy period and LL and T can of course agree otherwise :)

Thanks. :) Landlordzone call it both a tenancy payment period and a rent period, no doubt there is a subtle distinction I am missing.
