See the report at the TPO website halfway down the News page http://www.tpos.co.uk/news-11.htm
Lawbreaking agent expelled from The Property Ombudsman scheme 30 March 2012 | Press Release
See too that there are other LAs who have had their membership of TPO's scheme withdrawn, eg -
WYL Ltd, a Yorkshire sales and lettings estate agency in Keighley
Town and Country Management Ltd (TCM), of 60, Harpur Street, Bedford, MK40 2QT
IMO its the LAs that ought to be formally regulated as a priority - they deal with £££ thousands of other people's money and property. They should be obliged to have a client account in the same way a solicitor is, to be subject to similar rules as SARsand they should be "struck off" for any financial misdemeanours.
It seems likely that some LL clients and some Ts will have been unaware of the full history of the OP's LA as they were signing up after the TPO report.0 -

From reading this, all that this seems to mean is that the agent can no longer display the logo of the Property Ombudsman? So it doesn't seem to be much of a punishment really as it doesn't stop them trading ... I'd hazard a guess that the majority of tenants have no idea what the TPO is. And tbh, having dealt with them they're a bit of a chocolate teapot - removing a LAs membership seems to do nothing other than save the LA some money in membership fees.0 -
Just a quick update the Statutory Demand worked and I have been paid in full on 5 December 2012. Thanks all for your input. Joyce x0
