New Dyson DC19 - Worth the money?

The time has come to replace my Dad's Dyson DC 05 which has given 8 years of loyal service. I've narrowed the potential replacement down to the the two Dyson cylinders; DC08 (non telescope wrap) and DC19. My Dad doesn't want the fiddly telescope thing.

DC19 has just come out and is the "latest thing" but only seems a subtle evolution over DC08. Have any Dyson fans bought the new DC19 and if so, can you provide any feedback please? There's virtually nothing in the price if I shop around for the two cleaners.

Common sense tells me to buy the latest model, but if I can get the older one slightly cheaper, my MSE self tells me to get that??!

We have the DC08 with telescopic wand. The wand is great if you have limited storage. I was a bit sceptical as it feels a little flimsy and light weight, but so far it has been fine.
