Difference in insulation quality?

Hi
We recently bought a new house, built around the 1950's it has no insulation therefore have to keep heating on all day.
Last week I started ringing around to see to see if I can get the free cavity and loft insulation offer. This government deal is running out this year, and most of the companies I rang said either they cannot help as we are not on benefits or said that they will not be able to install before the end of the year therefore cannot help.
Anyway British Gas will be sending an engineer to survey in a couple of weeks, the only onther company that showed interest was a company I have never heard off but also do cavity/loft insulation via the government offer. This other company are visiting tomorrow for a survey, this other company seems like a small company as has no website or any info on the web.
So my question is if are they happy to do the job after their visit tomorrow should I ask for them to do it asap, or should I wait for British Gas to visit. I guess my query is will British Gas fit a better or lower quality insulation or is insulation pretty much the same?
Thanks

Hi Whiskey
We've been (by British Gas) told that you don't need to have the work done before the end of the year, you just need to get it ordered. Not sure that's much help or not!0
